With artificial intelligence growing to encompass more and more aspects of business, it has been suggested that AI could actually eliminate the need for a local web design company. There are already tools available that allow AI to play a significant role in web development, but the prospect of using them to build a website from the bottom up is still a long ways off.
Those tools do raise questions, though. How far off is an all-AI web design company? And is that something we should even look forward to? I would argue that while the integration of AI into the field of web development is going to continue at a steady pace, it only points to a situation in which the human creativity of an experienced web design company works hand-in-hand with the pure efficiency of artificial intelligence.
That’s the best that you should expect, and the most you should hope for, whether you represent a web design company or just one of its clients. Existing tools allow site owners to feed data into an AI system and develop a template that reflects dominant trends among related websites, or to customize an existing layout according to the preferences you’ve entered. But both the foundational elements and the fine-tuning of a website remain the purview of creative-thinking humans and likely will remain that way for a long time.
We should all look forward to automation of the essential features of web development. But we shouldn’t see this as a reason to entirely hand our creative endeavors over to machines. Doing so would put us at risk of abandoning the innovation that a local web design company can create when it combines its own human resources with those of the client and dismisses the easy allure of mass production.
