Mobile Web Design Alternatives, Revisited

February 25, 2017

I have previously discussed the rise or responsive web design and the need to consider the devices that your visitors can be expected to use to access your site. But the topic is important enough that it should be revisited from time to time, and with concrete examples.

You probably don’t need to talk to a Beverly Hills web design company to know that the rise of smartphones has led directly to the increasing prevalence of single-page web design. The aesthetic of that design type is now something that you seriously have to consider when you consult with a local web design company to create your website.

But this is not to say that you have to adopt that trend, even if you do believe the overwhelming majority of users will access your site on their phones. You may simply prefer the aesthetic of separate, hyperlinked pages. But if so, your local web design company must take extra special care to make sure that each page, as displayed on smaller devices, is simple enough and consistent enough to transition smoothly and load quickly on a mobile connection.

You should never come to the conclusion that large-scale trends leave you will a lack of options, and your local web design company should never try to convince you of that. But trends exist for a reason, and both you and your web designers must always aspire to understand what those reasons are, and what an alternative solution might look like.
