There is no denying that mobile web searches are making up an ever greater share of internet traffic. This, of course, means that mobile strategy is of paramount importance to any local SEO company. But this is not to say that mobile strategy is exclusively important, and in fact it is important for you to keep the discussion of desktop browsing alive when talking with your own local SEO company.
There are a number of reasons for this, not the least of which is that the growth of mobile web searches does not actually mean that desktop browsing has diminished. Instead, the raw numbers have remained roughly consistent for the past decade, while mobile has grown to dominate a much larger sample size.
What’s more, your local SEO company must consider the possibility that desktop traffic is more important that mobile for a certain site’s defined audience. It is just as possible that desktop is more important at certain times of the day, as when people are on their work computers, or that it is more valuable to your SEO campaign when considering certain localities or certain search terms.
Even as Google and the internet as a whole are taking on more and more mobile-centered strategy, a local SEO company must deny the impulse to simply dispense with the desktop strategies. To do so would be an instance of throwing out the baby with the bathwater, and the same is true of any number of old strategies that remain broadly relevant even if their importance is not what it used to be.
