Iran Election

It’s always interesting when global events highlight the often surprising amounts of influence that can be wielded by social media users and local social media companies.

For instance, did you know that there are elections took place in Iran recently? The campaigns for the country’s parliament and Assembly of Experts are the first since the election of the relatively moderate President Hassan Rouhani in 2013. They also come about seven years after the disputed 2009 reelection of Rouhani’s predecessor, which set off massive protests and gave rise to the historic Green Movement.

Why do I bring up Iran in the blog for a Los Angeles social media company? Because the Green Movement was a testament to the power than platforms like Facebook and Twitter had acquired during the first decade of the 21st century. It is a power not only to share and market ideas and products, but also a power to actually shape world events.

And Iran’s notoriously repressive government has been fully aware of this fact but has been unable to thoroughly stamp out the democratizing influence of internet users and local social media companies that help them to circumvent government bans.

For that reason, it’s not only people who are interested in global politics who should be interested in watching the Iranian elections and other such events. Anyone who is interested in social media platforms or the work of a Beverly Hills social media company should find it interesting to be reminded of the power they hold in their hands.

New social media tools are expected to influence the current elections in much the same way that Twitter organized people and shared information in 2009. And a healthy global awareness could help local social media companies to better understand the tools that will hold sway over business and marketing, as well as politics, in the near future.
