The latest data suggests that as many as half of all internet users complain that some of the sites they use are not optimized for the devices they use to access them. This is a failure of responsive web design – a topic I’ve mentioned in the past and one that is still becoming more and more important to the work of Los Angeles web design companies.

Ideally, responsive web design optimizes the display of a website across every device that its visitors rely on. But in practice, some methods of access might be neglected by the web design company tasked with building that site. This isn’t necessarily a commentary on their abilities, though. In fact, as the number of different devices proliferate, the chances decrease for getting responsive web design perfect the first time around.

What is most important is that a web design company and its clients have a plan in place for continuously monitoring and testing the relevant site’s display across multiple devices. There are some automated solutions to this problem, such as integrating visual testing into the coding process or providing mechanisms to alert the site owner of display problems.

But the main strategies in this area must remain hands-on, and this is another reason why it is beneficial to work locally and make sure that your web design company’s customer service goes beyond building a site and then forgetting about it.
